We regret to inform the diving public and all our valued friends and kind patrons and selected enemies that as of 01.12.01 The Dive Zone Co. Ltd. of Koh Lanta in Thailand exists no more. We have closed down our business permanently ! This is the travel information and acommodation guide about Khao Lak in the Andaman Sea close to Krabi and Phuket in Southern Thailand. We have chosen to make this move not only in view of recent events, but also because we do not see a bright future ahead for Lantau Tourism in general and the Lanta Island diving industry in particular. Please also see this link to the Bangkokpost in relation to this ! In seven years of operation we have seen such a dramatic reduction in fish stock at our coral reefs and watched the National Park Authority of Thailand turn their heads and say "Mai Pen Rai " ( never mind ). Yet at the same time these same people are quite willing to charge the diving tourist a hefty 200.- Baht per person per day to enter the confines of their "national park". It seems as if the Ko Lanta diving industry was being used to finance some entrepreneurial undertaking of the National Park Authority !  The last time we looked, there were about half a dozen fishing boats dragging their nets across Hin Daeng and Hin Muang as well as  Koh Ha , a mini archipelago which, as recently as five years ago, was home to several species of shark, schools of Rainbow Runners and barracuda, large snapper and stingrays, all of which by now have all but disappeared .

This, amongst a million other reasons is why we have decided to call it quits and shut our doors and we wish our numerous friends and loyal customers not to be sad about our demise ! Thank you all for your continued support and patronage ! Without you we would have died a much sooner and more painful death. There are numerous dive destination around the world and we might be seeing each other in any of them ! The Similan Islands in the beach Resort of Khao Lak in Thailand, for one, offers superior diving to that of the island of Lanta.
